FREESOULS contains: 296 Portraits by Joi Ito; essays by: Howard Rheingold, Lawrence Liang, Cory Doctorow, Yochai Benkler, Isaac Mao and Marko Ahtisaari; a Foreword by Lawrence Lessig, and a special interview with Joi Ito. | New Release & Groundbreaking iTunes Deal Announced | ||

Commmons/Avex marketing Ltd. and iTunes Japan held a press conference in Tokyo on 12/10 at the Apple Store, Ginza (Tokyo, Japan) to announce the March 4, 2009 release of Ryuichi Sakamoto's new original artist album - out Of noise, which will be followed by a Japanese tour running from March 18 - April 28 (18 cities, 21 shows). out of noise (Sakamoto's first artist release in five years) will contain 12 new tracks. Ryuichi Sakamoto also announced an unprecedented partnership with iTunes Japan whereby every concert on the tour will be recorded live and the live audio recordings will be available through the iTunes Music Store within 24 hours in Japan (worldwide service will follow accordingly). This marks the first time iTunes has ever embarked on a deal of this kind for the rapid dissemination of live music anywhere in the world. | The Missing Peace Opens in Tokyo | ||

The Missing Peace: Artists Consider the Dalai Lama can now be seen in Tokyo through November 9th at the Hillside Terrace Daikanyama. The exhibit includes an updated version of the Sakamoto contribution, sonic mandala, with a new design created by Shiro Takatani of dumb type. In addition, The Missing Peace - "The Book" can now be ordered online here in the Continental United States. For shipments outside the US, the book can be ordered from Amazon.com. This book contains photos of the original contributions from 88 artists representing more than 30 countries. As a companion piece to the exhibit, the book offers a further exploration of art as a catalyst for peace. Check out the original sonic mandala on youtube. | ||
